Satellite TV for caravans and motorhomes is the solution to ensure you never miss your favourite TV show or sports games wherever you are travelling.
You don’t need to travel far out of town before your caravan or motorhome television signal is getting patchy and your antenna is unable to pick up the local television signals. In fact, depending on your location in town, you maybe obscured from a local digital signal. This exact thing happened to us when were booked in for a week long holiday in Cairns with only enough signal strength for one channel. To continue to enjoy all of the commercial television stations (and the grand final) when you are out of town, a roof-mounted satellite system is the answer.
The Sphere Automated Satelite System or SASS is a satellite TV system capable of high definition receiving which is designed for Australian caravans and motorhomes. The SASS is designed to locate and lock onto satellites quickly, particularly the C1/D3 satellites which cover the majority of Australia. It is compatible with Direct Broadcast Satellites (DBS) which broadcast audio, video and data from satellites about 35,406km away. As the name suggests the search for satellite signal is automatic and simply requires the user to turn the system on and press search. The Sphere Automated Satellite System comprises of a large 90cm size satellite installed on the roof and folds closed to just 200mm which is lower than an RV air conditioner. The system also includes the indoor unit which is the user interface and able to be installed either under or over a shelf inside the caravan or motorhome. At the RV Service Centre with the installation of a Sphere Automated Satellite System we include a 12v Satking decoder which is required to receive the satellite signal.
Access to free-to-air digital satellite television, named Viewer Access Satellite Television or VAST, is funded by the Australian Government. Registration for a VAST service is necessary to receive the satellite signal but is free for caravan and motorhome travellers. Registration will allow you to access ABC, SBS and Channels 7,9 and 10. A simple online Traveller Registration form is available on the MySatTV website.
With your Sphere Automated Satellite System for caravans and motorhomes neatly installed you can enjoy all of your favourite free-to-air digital television almost everywhere in Australia. The only limitation you will find is if you park yourself directly under a tree which may reduce your signal. At the RV Service Centre we offer professionally installed satellite TV systems and can measure your caravan or motorhome to ensure that you have enough roof space to fit the satellite dish.
